“Kingsman The Golden Circle”, On September 22, Kingsman The Golden Circle Last week The first of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, has been revealed, and could contain the return of a main character. Entertainment Weekly has presented four photos of The Golden Circle, debuting the characters of Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry, as well as showing the return of Eggsy, the character of Taron Egerton.
The above photo shows the Tatum character in the foreground, while three figures are in the background. Merlin (Mark Strong), as well as Ginger, the new character of Halle Berry, are two clear figures. However, the third, as EW points out, appears to be Harry, the character of Colin Firth who died in the original film. (Although the medium does not confirm whether it is Harry or another character).
“I read the rumors, but I can not reveal if I’m in the movie,” Firth told EW on the set of the film while in costume last year. As for the cast of new characters, some were revealed in the most recent poster of the film, Tatum, Bridges, Berry and Pedro Pascal are members of Stateman, the American version of Kingsman. Julianne Moore will play Poppy, a global entrepreneur and Elton John will play a version of himself.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle follows Kingsman by joining forces with an organization of allied spies in the United States called the Statesman after their barracks are destroyed. The two organizations must leave their differences aside to defeat a common enemy, and once and for all, save the world.
The film stars Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Sir Elton John and Colin Firth. Matthew Vaughn will return to direct the sequel to a script he co-wrote with Jane Goldman.
Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman sequel hasn’t even snuck into cinemas yet, but it seems the director is already making plans for a third instalment to follow The Golden Circle.
Vaughn – who also directed the likes of X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass and Layer Cake – recently revealed a whopping 30 minutes of the upcoming action-spy flick starring Taron Egerton (Eggsy) and reviving Colin Firth (Harry Hart).
“I was very hesitant about making a sequel purely because so many sequels don’t really enhance the experience. They’re normally bigger but not necessarily better.”
Speaking about producing his other superhero sequel Kick-Ass 2, he said it “was a big learning curve of how not to make a sequel”, and quipped: “We didn’t set out to make a terrible film.”
The first Kingsman: The Secret Service charted chav-to-chap Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin as he discovered he has James Bond-esque secret agents in his family, and saw him sent to a Hogwarts-style training school for posh badasses with umbrellas.
The sequel to 2014’s sly spy parody has introduced the American counterparts of the Kingsmen, beckoning in a line-up of A-list Americans – Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, and Pedro Pascal – to square up against the heroes of this quintessentially British blockbuster.
A new teaser was introduced ahead of the annual Kentucky Derby, which saw Jeff Bridges help promote the film by attending the races, dressed on point as usual and having what appears to be a whale of a time.
Though as star Taron Egerton, who plays Eggsy, assured The Independent, “I think it’s still got that quintessential Britishness and it’s still about what being a gentlemen is, and we’re still in those beautifully tailored suits. As much as a large portion of the film is spent exploring what the Statesmen are – the American version – by the end, it’s very much the Kingsmen who are saving the day again.
Just a couple weeks ago, the first Kingsman: The Golden Circle for Kingsman: The Golden Circle arrived, giving us a peek into the sequel that finds Eggsy (Taron Egerton) dealing with yet another threat to the world. This time, the Kingsman agents find their headquarters completely destroyed, forcing them to team up with another secret agency in the United States known as the Statesman. Their headquarters just so happen to be located in Kentucky, where Eggys has a hard time getting a good martini in new footage that debuted in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby over the weekend.
There’s a bunch of new footage in this TV spot that wasn’t in the first Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and that includes giving lines to Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges as Statesman agents. In addition, Game of Thrones and Narcos star Pedro Pascal, who plays a character named Agent Whiskey, gets a line too, defending the handy Statesman weapon known as a lasso. Anyone want to take bets on whether he becomes the villain or not?
The shots of Pedro Pascal in the first Kingsman: The Golden Circle are so quick that I initially thought that we were seeing Colin Firth decked out in more American gear. But then I remembered that the shot we see at the end of that Kingsman: The Golden Circle show Colin Firth with an eye patch, which serves as a reminder that he almost died in the first movie. Frankly, I’m excited to see how they explain him being back from the dead.
